In line with National Reading Month, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) Organization launched its first conjoined project along with the Senior High School English and Filipino Faculty of Urdaneta City National High School (UCNHS) on November 15-19, 2021 which aimed to collect books and school supplies for the day care pupils of a chosen rural area.

The theme of the National Reading Month was “Bawat Bata Bumabasa sa Gitna ng Hamon ng Pandemya,” wherein the UCNHS SSG Organization collected books and other school supplies to be donated to the pupils of Cabaruan Day Care Center.

The organization proceeded on the donation drive on December 3, 2021 after the collection of donations. A short program was held and led by the SSG Vice President and Secretary, Razen Paul Ubaldo and Jenna Mae Sanchez.

The program started with a message given by Ms. Lyra June G. Mata, Subject Group Head of the Humanities and Social Sciences Strand. The first part of the program was the discussion of the Literacy Advocacy Campaign, with speakers, Ms. Divina Alzate and Mr. Rolando Paris. A lecture on Home Schooling Literacy Strategies for Emergent Learners followed and was discussed by Ms. Sweetzel Rodriguez.

The program ended with a storytelling session of Mr. Tristan Tabora. Then, the pupils were given snacks that were prepared by the team. The pupils did not only enjoy and had fun, but they also learned in the program conducted.

The Organization believes that by giving an emphasis on less privileged families with incoming day care pupils, also known as our "Pag-asa ng Bayan," the book donation drive added great value to them with the modest assistance provided. The organization hopes that their collaborative project taught and instilled hope for the pupils to read in order for them to attain knowledge and grow their love for reading even at an early age.
