UCNHS JHS AND SHS STUDENTS SHINE ANEW IN THE NATIONAL SCIENCE QUEST

Once again, Urdaneta City National High School (UCNHS) students proved their superiority in the 18th National Science Quest held virtually from March 18-20 of this year. With over a thousand participants, this year’s theme, Promote and Enhance the Quality of Life During Pandemic Through Science Discoveries and Inventions intends to enhance students’ potential, skills, and capabilities despite the pandemic. It also aims to instill camaraderie and sportsmanship among the students and coaches of the different public and private elementary and secondary schools in the Philippines. This affair also enshrines the quality of educational standards among the respective competing schools in the discipline of Science.
The competitions were for various categories: Science, Mathematics, Techno & Environmental Quiz (Individual and Team), Science Fair, Science intervention Materials (SIM), Science Investigatory Projects (SIP) and Improvisation, On-the-Spot Painting and Collage Making, Robotics, Sci-cheer, Jingle making and Sci-Speech choir, Sci-Modern Tech, Sci-Folk, Creative Modeling, Sci-Writing and Impromptu Speaking, Rubik’s Cube Game, Damath, Sci-Doku Challenge, Mathematics and Science Trail, Sci- Dama, Sci-Chess and Sudoku.
Rhay Janssen Ocay, a HUMSS Grade 12 student was the first person to bag a First Placed medal for Impromptu Speaking, this was followed by Kiara Claire Nonales, Roshan Feliz Echanes and Adrian Jester Agbanlog taking the first place in Spotlight Presentation. Not to be outdone were our students who won First place in Sci-Jingle Making. These students were coached by Lyra June Mata, Marilou Alejo and Rosmary Nespes respectively.
UCNHS also took home two Second Place Awards. One was in Sci-Spelling Bee Grade 9 and Sci-Spelling Bee Grade 12. In these categories, the awardees are Tracy Rodjun Lagao and Joshua Mel Guttierrez; they were respectively coached by Nathaniel Pabaira and Lyra June Mata.
Winning in this prestigious competition brought honors to Urdaneta City National High School, a top-performing, secondary school in the City and in the region. UCNHS exemplifies the Science based education of the institution empowered by the teaching force with wide knowledge of Science and Technology.
