Urdaneta City National High School’s (UCNHS) School Paper Advisers (SPAs) once again come to the aid of aspiring writers. In their bid to further hone the writing, speaking, and editing skills of their writers, a Write Shop was conducted by the four SPAs – Richelle Aquino, Michael Dave Pascual for Junior High School, and Gemma Marie Baltazar and Regina Velasco for Senior High School.
Despite the restrictions caused by the pandemic, the SPAs rose to the challenge and conducted a Write Shop which was opened to aspiring student writers. Strictly following the health protocols, the Write Shop was conducted in UCNHS’ SHS Computer Laboratory. The School Paper Advisers were very hands-on and very vigilant as to the needs of each writer.
The Write Shop was also made accessible online.
This school year, writers and SPAs are pooling all their resources and effort in launching a digitalized school paper. From brainstorming ideas, putting the ideas into words, and seeing these in media, the group fully intends to bring this plan to fruition.
The Write Shop is the perfect venue to scout new talents and further hone the skills of experienced writers and journalists. It is here where writers and journalists learn that they have to be able to combine words and turn these into something meaningful and relatable to the reader or viewers. It should be timely and trendy. The piece must touch a reader or viewer’s heart and document every piece of significant information. That is what The Beacon, the official English Publication of UCNHS, is practicing and is always trying to accomplish.
